Our
Origin Story
From the courtroom to the conference table — finding neutral ground.
Parley Mediation & Arbitration was created for people seeking a meaningful opportunity to address their divorce and other domestic relations disputes outside the courtroom. Our services are shaped by years of experience handling every stage of domestic relations disputes. We understand how conflict develops, how resolution succeeds or fails, and the consequences of prolonged conflict. The way these disputes are resolved affects more than the legal case itself. Meaningful resolution can create positive outcomes and long-term stability for the people involved. We aim to provide a practical and effective alternative for individuals and families navigating conflict during periods of significant transition. We know that family law cases carry a greater personal impact than most legal disputes. Decisions involving divorce, parenting, finances, and family structure have lasting consequences that deserve more time, consideration, and flexibility than traditional judicial proceedings allow. We encourage dispute resolution participants to approach important decisions with clarity, structure, and careful consideration of broader outcomes. Effective dispute resolution requires legal knowledge and practical experience. Successful conflict resolution requires sound judgment, an understanding of conflict dynamics, and a structured process to support independent decision-making when the stakes are highest.

Hello, I am Karlee Stoppenhagen.
I am a Colorado attorney dedicated to helping people resolve legal matters outside the courtroom. I chose alternative dispute resolution after spending years handling high-conflict, high-stakes legal matters for people navigating their most difficult periods of life.
Before founding Parley Mediation & Arbitration, I represented individuals and families in complex legal disputes, directed legal strategy for thousands of family law cases, and managed legal operations at one of Colorado’s largest family law firms.
I have seen prolonged conflict, procedural inefficiency, and unnecessary litigation entrench disputes while leaving people feeling unheard, overwhelmed, and financially exhausted. I created Parley Mediation & Arbitration to provide an efficient, sophisticated, and balanced process designed to move difficult matters toward meaningful and sustainable resolution.
My experience as a litigator now informs my role as a mediator and arbitrator. I serve as a neutral third-party and do not advocate on behalf of any participant involved in the dispute resolution process. I do not choose sides. I will not represent you or any other participant involved in your matter. I understand how to navigate settlement negotiations, untangle complex divorce dynamics, and de-escalate high-conflict parenting disputes. I recognize that some issues cannot be resolved collaboratively. When settlement is not realistic, I am prepared to evaluate the available information and exercise balanced judgment to resolve the dispute with care and clarity.
